Book Review: The Fault in Our Stars

I can’t even begin to describe how absolutely wonderful and melancholy this book is! I think it is my new favorite book. It is about a girl named Hazel who has lung cancer. She is coping with it and goes to a support group, where she meets Augustus Waters. He is a clever, loving teenager who’s leg was amputated because of osteosarcoma. Augustus and Hazel immediately become friends and their banter is entertaining and hilarious. Then they become very close over a book called An Imperial Affliction. They feel as if the author understands them perfectly, as well as their fear of oblivion after death. They both long to meet Peter Van Houten, the author, so he will answer the questions never answered in the book’s cliffhanger. So the two cancer encroached teens set off on an adventure to find their answers.

I can honestly say that this book is sure to affect your life in some way, and surpass all of your expectations made by my puny synopsis. The author of this magnificent book is John Green, and if you go on his YouTube account Vlogbrothers, which is a video blog that he does, then you can have him read the first two chapters as a sample. Please at least try and find the time to read this literary marvel.
